Young Korean United of USA (YKU), Korean Alliance for Peace and Justice, and the UN World Food Programme (WFP) are launching an emergency relief campaign for the victims of the massive explosion at Ryongchun station in April 22nd in North Korea. The tragic explosion, fed by oil and chemicals, killed over 160 people and injured at least 1,300, many of them children.
The current shortage of food and medical supplies in North Korea only increases the humanitarian crisis of the accident. Civil organizations and the international community, including ithe South Korea and the United States governments, are joining the emergency relief efforts.
YKU has been working for seven years with WFP to aid starving children in North Korea. We hope to express the depth of concern and compassion of Korean Americans and other concerned citizens to the disaster victims in North Korea.
